Mabelline is a 11 year old female long haired German Shepherd/Rottie mix that needs a new home.  Elderly owner evicted can no longer care for her.  She is a very shy and docile girl that needs a gentle, loving home for her remaining days.  She is good around other dogs and cats and has been fine around a 9 year old girl.  She walks well on a leash.

She is located in Chino, CA.  Please contact Cindy to come meet her. 909-606-0027 or email cindy7609@gmail.com

Connor has good looks, and a great personality to match. He landed himself in a high kill shelter at age 1, and no owner ever went to claim him.

Connor managed to get out of the scary shelter, but then caught a nasty cold which turned to pneumonia. Our vets were quick to act, and he is now on the road to recovery. However, they discovered that our sweet Connor has Mega-E (mega-esophagus), a condition that is manageable but not curable. Dogs can live happy, normal lives, but they must have a soft diet in elevated bowls, with small meals provided a couple of time daily.

If you are interested in meeting Connor, and/or need more information regarding him or Mega E, please complete an application online and contact chowski681@yahoo.com.

Maxie is a senior, 12 years old, who came into the West Los Angeles shelter on March 23rd when his family lost their house.  He's listed as "shepherd mix" but his face just seems very Collie to me, and his coloring (you can't see in his photo but he has white socks to match his white chest and belly.) I'm thinking he's a Collie/GSD cross.  He's a big dog - around 30" I think. He'd been with his family for 12 years, until they lost their home. He's a really sweet old guy, knows basic commands and "speak" and does this cute little bunny hop to get attention.  He's pretty stressed out here, though - he's friendly but seems so sad and confused.  He came in with another dog, which I need to get more info on as I'm not sure which dog it is - they are not kenneled together (more due to their size I think than anything.)  He is friendly with other dogs.

Please contact Shannon  at misfitz616@yahoo.com

Hammie is a 10 year old, red & white, neutered, Pembroke Welsh Corgi. He's up to date on all his vaccinations, and micro-chipped. He grew up with cats his first three years and is allegedly cat friendly. However, he shows too much interest in the cats in his foster home. Hammie would do best in a home without cats.

Hammie likes everyone. Hammie rides well in the car. In fact he likes to go bye-bye so much, he gets excited and lets you know it for about 3-5 minutes, with a little bit of barking. He loves to play fetch (for a short period of time). He also likes to play with squeaky toys, and play tug-o-war. He loves to chase the water coming out of the garden hose. Hammie also enjoys chasing after balloons. Hammie likes going on his walks, and walks well on a leash, but at times he will pull a little bit. Two of Hammie's other favorite activities are giving kisses, letting you rub his tummy, and being your little shadow and following you all over the house.

Hammie recently had his teeth cleaned, although they weren't very bad at all. He also received a senior blood panel and thyroid testing, and the vet said they both came back with flying colors. He tested negative for heartworm in May of 2002 and has been on heartworm medication ever since.

Hammie recently had his Cindy Crawford beauty mark removed from the right side of his muzzle. His hips and front legs were x-rayed. He has a tiny bit of arthritis on one side of his hip. Other than being about 5-8 pounds overweight, Hammie is in excellent health. He is currently on a weight loss program. Hammie has the energy level of a 6 year old Corgi. He would make someone a great companion, but not a jogging partner. He will also let you know if someone is around your home or at the front door. So, he's a good watch dog, but not a guard dog.

Hammie will do best as an only dog, or in a home with a smaller, calm, submissive canine companion. If you're interested in Hammie, please go to http://www.pwccsc.org/rescue.html and complete an adoption application.

Daisy  has been an indoor house dog all her life and since she got old with arthritis does not like other dogs. She is now in a Sanctuary which is too rugged for her and needs to find a new home. She is very passive, sweet, loves to be petted and talked to, rest in her bed, walk around and smell the grass.  In short she is a typical old girl.. She is actually walking much better than when her "guardian" was around. Probably because she has something other than spoiled macaroni and cheese to eat.  She is now on Natural balance Reduced Calorie Diet, she loves it and she is eating and going to the bathroom normally.   Please contact Joanna at  joanna9@sbcglobal.net

We are looking for a permanent foster home for Rusty.  Her previous owner has become ill due to old age (90) and is now receiving 24 hour care and unable to keep Rusty.
Rusty has been living with us full time since before last Thanksgiving.  During this time we have grown fond of her and gotten to know her very well, but we are unable to keep her permanently.  Since we have been living with her for so long, we can provide you with some first hand knowledge about her personality and physical condition:
Rusty is a beautiful female mixed breed thought to consist of mostly Keeshond and part Chow (see pictures).  She is a very gentle, submissive and affectionate dog.  She is approximately 7-8 years old and in excellent health and physical condition.  She is very socialized with other dogs and has never been aggressive even when provoked by other dogs; she will avoid them instead.
Rusty weighs approximately 45 pounds.  She has been trained to run along next to a bicycle as well as walk next to or behind a person.  She is very responsive to voice commands: She sits, comes, and will not stray even when other dogs or animals (cats and squirrels) are present if she is commanded to stay.  She is very intelligent and easily trainable.  She did not know any of these tricks before she moved in with us.
Rusty is house broken, uses a doggie door and always goes outside to go to the bathroom.  She is not aggressive in any situation whether feeding or in the presence of other dogs or strangers.
Rusty does have a few fear related issues.  She is scared of certain men or anyone who projects very strong energy at her.  In these situations she will turn tail and try to get away from these people.  Although, with a little bit of work and the right approach, she'll warm up to anyone, as has been proven over and over again with her.
If anyone you know is looking for a new K9 companion who is already through with the destructive puppy phase and already housebroken and mostly trained, Rusty is definitely worth meeting.
If interested in meeting her,
call Brian at (562) 313-1945

I need to find a new home for my wonderful dog, Riley.  He is a medium sized (50lbs) male shepherd mix, originally adopted from the Irvine Animal Shelter.  He is in very good health and is a wonderful companion.  He’s VERY mellow, and it doesn’t take much to make him happy – some love and attention and a walk around the block.  He’s housebroken and never barks.  He’s been the only pet in our family, so he would do best in a home without other animals or very young children.  If you have room in your heart and home to love a sweet old dog, please contact me.  I need to find him a home by May 31st.

Please contact Elisa at elisa@losbrowns.com

We have a difficult situation that we don't know what to do about.  Our son David has two dogs.  We don't want them to go to the pound and we are desperately looking for a good home.  We have 2 dogs, Amy has 3 dogs, and Jennifer has 5 cats and her (rented) backyard has no fence - so we are unable to take them.

The older (female) is 15 years old and she is a Lab mix.  Her name is Dale.

The younger (male) is 10 years old and he is a Terrier mix.  His name is Dale Jr. or "Junior".
They are very well trained, well behaved, and are really very loving dogs.  We know the age is a problem, but they are in good health and will give a family a lot of love.  The female has been spayed.  We don't want to split them up as they have been together ever since David raised them from a pup.

If anyone knows of a family that would like to have these two dogs - please get in touch with us.

Thank You,

Linda & George

Hi, our guardian passed away and now we need to find a home together.

We love each other so much and have many more years left to love you!

I'm Jackson, (top photo) a GORGEOUS male pommie around 10 years young and 10 lbs.

I will woo you with my sparkling personality. I'm super sweet, happy, great with all animals and love people. My girlfriend Coco is a pom/papillion mix who is 10 years young and around 10 lbs too. She loves all animals and people too. We are both fixed, utd on all shots, just had a dental, and are ready for some forever loving. Won't you consider adopting us both? We have been together our entire lives and now that our guardian passed away we have no one but each other. Staying together is a must. Please email Rachel at raweil@aol.com for more information or cell phone 818-378-8995

This is Moose.  His owner, is very ill and living in a care facility, likely for a very long time. Moose is a neutered 3 or 4 years old male Labrador Sheppard mix. He has been recently diagnosed with Discoid Lupus Erythematosis an autoimmune system disease. We have just started treating him with, sunscreen, vitamins and Tetracycline. His nose is affected by the disease and without treatment will sustain serious damage. Moose must be protected from the sun as it aggravates the degeneration and the Tetracycline causes further sun sensitivity. The disease is not contagious. Moose has been with us for about a year in hopes that he and his partner Coco (pictured) could return to the owner's care. This is not feasible. Moose is a very sociable dog both with humans and other dogs. He is current with all shots, has good teeth, and is otherwise in good health. In addition to Coco we have a Rat Terrier, Winifred. We are not set up to meet Moose's needs. Moose and Coco have the run of the backyard and garage.

Keisha is a 12 year old pit bull.  She is an amazing dog.  She doesn't bark and greets visitors politely.
Keisha is highly affectionate, just a huge cuddle love bug.  The picture really says how great she is with kids.    Keisha is fine with other animals.     There has been zero history of aggression.  Keisha has lived with cats and rabbits as well.
No medical issues, but there is a little problem with her hind end.  She gets up just fine, shows no signs of pain, plays, walks great, but you can see by the way they bow out that she is a senior.

So, Keisha needs saving within 10 days, by Mon Jan 18th.   Otherwise her owner will put her in the pound.  She really shines when with children.

Keisha is spayed, up to date on shots, house trained, walks great on a leash, knows all her commands

10/31/09:  Sandy has made herself completely at home.  Where ever we are is where she likes to be, but during the day, if the other dogs go to check something out, she runs right out the door with them.  She sleeps quietly beside the bed all night. Never wakes me up, (she lets the Pyrs handle night patrol). She does snore on occasion and 'talks' in her sleep :-).  She is not a pest but does like her share of attention. She is house broken.  Never an accident. Good with people/kids/other animals.  She ignores the cat.

She deserves a clean, comfortable place where she can just lay back and enjoy the companionship of people who will love her for the rest of her life. She is still active and loves her half mile walks twice a day.  She would probably be happy with a longer walk, but content with less also.  Being with her people is her top priority.  She rides great in the back seat of the car or will go in a crate if need be.

She is 7 years old, full blood St. Bernard (no papers).  She is small for a Saint but is still 100 pounds and 28 or 29"at the shoulder.  She is a dry mouth. Yeah!!   She is spayed and vet checked healthy, HW negative.

Gorgeous loving pair of 9 year Shih-tzus need a loving home now.  Guardian is going thru cancer treatment and cannot care for them much longer.  The spayed girls are very bonded and good with other dogs their size. They are housetrained.  Quiet.  And only 7 pounds each.  Please call Kelly at 818/521-5689 or e-mail tobynat2001@yahoo.com

Cooper the Chihauhua is a HART dog.  Do not use the fotos  with the kids.  Just the dog photos.

Cooper was rescued on his last day at LA City's North Central Shelter.  A loving sweet dog who is good with kids and other dogs, this charming senior boy (probably about 7 years old) is healthy, happy and great in  a home.  He is mindful of his manners.  Is housebroken on a schedule.  And not a barker. He would make a great second or even third dog in a small dog household.

Gypsy took a 14 hour flight from Hong Kong to find love and happiness in the USA. She is on the small side---approximately 50 pounds. She has a rich reddish coat and a hint of a black saddle. Gypsy loves to give kisses to everyone that she meets! She follows her canine foster brother everywhere around the house and she is housebroken.

Gypsy walks well on a leash and is not timid in new situations. She bonds very quickly and it's obvious that she is eager to find a special person or family so that she can 'belong'.

To arrange to meet our Gypsy girl, please complete the online application first and then contact Johnandebhancock@aol.com for more information. Gypsy is currently in a foster home.

Hi there! Meet “Jag”! Jag was rescued from being euthanized at a "high kill" city animal shelter. He was on his LAST day, before they were going to euthanize (kill) him. And the ONLY reason they were going to euthanize him was because of how over-crowded the shelter was, and they were out of room. Well, we couldn’t let that happen to him! So we rescued him, and he is now being fostered in a private home, until his permanent “forever home” can be found.

Jag is a WONDERFUL dog. He is so sweet and affectionate. He is a perfect gentleman too, and will need no training. He doesn’t bark, he doesn’t dig, he doesn’t chew anything up, he is calm and still in the car, he’s housebroken, and he walks well on a leash. He also doesn’t climb on the furniture. In addition to all of that, he gets along very well with other dogs - even really little dogs - and he would probably be fine with cats, too. He’s just about as close to perfect as you can get!

Jag is an older fellow. We think that he is at least 10 years old. Jag is a special dog, and will have some physical obstacles. He needs an understanding family who will love him, in spite of this. But just because he has a few physical issues, doesn't mean that he shouldn't get a home, or that he shouldn't be loved. So here's what's going on: Jag can see, as of right now, but he is developing an eye condition called 'Pannus'  which will eventually cause him to go blind. We need to get him adopted soon, so that he can learn his new home, and so that he can learn his new family, BEFORE he loses his eyesight. Blind dogs do fine, and still have a lot of love to give. They don't get devastated like humans do. They adjust very well. But just because Jag will go blind down the road, doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a loving home. He will still act like a dog.  Jag will still be able to walk around your house, and we will still be able to go for walks in the neighborhood, on a leash (which he loves to do!).

Jag is very, very, very sweet, and wags his tail when you give him your attention.  He’s absolutely adorable.  Jag loves affection, and loves to be pet.  This dog is perfect for the “laid back” family, and for someone who wants a sweet dog that is mellow.  Also, Jag loves his walks!  He lights up when you pull out the leash!  And he's so well-behaved on his walks....you can literally hold the leash with your pinky finger.  But Jag doesn't need a whole lot of exercise though.  If you could take him for a little stroll around the neighborhood at least once (or twice) a day, for about 15 minutes per walk (in addition to his 'bathroom' breaks), he would really be happy and would enjoy that!  He may walk a little slow though, but he definitely loves to go out for a stroll!

Please e-mail us at HeroesK9Rescue@aol.com if you're interested in Jag. There is a $95 adoption fee, and when you e-mail us, we will ask you to fill out a short adoption application. Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a rescued dog!

Taylor is a spayed 12 year old female border collie/beagle mix.  Taylor was given up by her family because one relative who came to live with them doesn't like dogs!  Taylor is 25-30 lbs.  She is remarkably active for a senior pooch and in pretty good shape.  She loves to go for walks and still really enjoys playing in the yard.  She loves to be scratched behind the ears, given massages and belly rubs and just being loved!  Taylor is also really smart, housebroken and has had all shots.  Loves being around people of all ages as well as other dogs.  Gets a little nervous when left alone so would probably be the happiest in a house where someone is home most of the day.  Taylor has lived with cats.  What Taylor really likes most of all is to sleep on a soft couch, pillow or bed and rest her head on the arm or leg of the owner.

Taylor is now staying in a kennel in North Orange County.  Please call Wayne Gordon, animal rescue volunteer, at 714-329-7084 or email him at WayneAGordon@aol.com

Mikey is a neutered 14 year old male smooth-coated collie mix.  He was turned in to a Ventura County animal shelter by his owner because he was getting older.  He was rescued by a volunteer.  He is mid-sized, weighing about 50 lbs.  He is remarkably active for a senior pooch and still in pretty good shape.  He loves to go for walks and even likes to pull a little on the leash just to let you know that he still can!  He loves a good belly rub, and is really smart.  He loves being around people of all ages as well as other dogs.  He is pretty laid back and would probably get along with cats as well.  He really likes to sleep on a soft couch, pillow or bed and rest his head on the arm or leg of his owner.  He has so much love and affection left to give to a family who will take him into their home and hearts.

Please call Wayne Gordon, animal rescue volunteer, at 714-329-7084 or email him at WayneAGordon@aol.com
